“Lonely Boy” - The Black Keys

A new video for The Black Keys’ forthcoming El Camino (December 6th, Warner Brothers) has surfaced. The dancing going on in the video encapsulates much of what the song itself is doing. While Brothers was heavy on the blues with sometimes sludgy, thick bass, “Lonely Boy” is a faster-paced, nearly rollicking song for the group. The song is still steeped in a blues foundation and features the reverb-heavy vocals found in most of the group’s music, but it also seems like the song could be found in one of those 1970’s movies with blown out color and terrible green screen where a group of people bust out into a song and dance number on a beach (complete with not-so-scantily clad women and fake shark fin taking part). It is a promising look at the aesthetic and the sound of what to expect with the new record. If the teaser with Saul Goodman Bob Odenkirk didn’t pique your interest, “Lonely Boy” should.
